App Academy was rigorous but certainly worth it! The curriculum was extensive and offered many opportunities for hands-on practice. The exams were intense at times, but by the last couple of weeks, students are given much more flexibility to develop creative apps on their own. The market is tough, so it'll take longer to find a job after, but I'm grateful to say that I'm now employed in my dream job! Great experience overall.

The best part about App Academy was the people. Great instructors and likeminded peers all gathered in the same place to learn and grow together under intense pressure.

I graduated from the 16-week on-campus program and landed two jobs within six months. A lot of my success was due to my own hard work, but my success would not have been possible without AA.

a/A is a great bootcamp for anyone looking to break into field. Their curriculum is constantly changing to stay up-to-date with the market. The entire instruction team is fantastic, and the career coaches are incredibly supportive. I spent 1 month after graduation working on my portfolio, and about 2 months applying to jobs. I applied to ~250 jobs, interviewed with 5 different companies, and had two offers within 3 months of graduating. They give you all the resources to succeed, but it's up to you to put in the time and effort.

App Academy ramps you up quickly to cover the core skills needed on the job. You'll be in an environment that encourages and supports your growth as an engineer so motivation is easy to come by. Your cohort will have a mix of people from all different backgrounds so your starting point in terms of coding is not important at all. The most important part of the course is the job search itself. What's great about App Academy is that there are coaches there to hold you accountable and help keep you on track. There will be lots of workshops to help you improve your white boarding skills, interviewing skills, and more. Overall, I'm really glad that I went to App Academy. Be warned the job search can be very tough and even if you have the coding chops/interviewing skills you still might have a hard time. A little bit of luck and playing the numbers game goes a long way.

App Academy is a great place to start your coding journey, especially if you are someone who needs structure. The curriculum covers enough for you to build a full stack web application on your own and there is definitely a lot of support if you ever need it. You learn a lot of things at a very fast pace and it can be overwhelming. There are assessments almost every single week, if you fail you get deferred to the next cohort, it can be a bad thing but when it comes to coding everyone learns at their own pace and this is only in place to make sure you are keeping up with the curriculum. Post grad you are given a career coach and there are also a lot of resources that they provide for you which are extremely helpful. The only cons for me was the check in system, it can be annoying and something you don’t really want to worry about especially when you are bombarded with new material every single day. Another con for me was that everything moved at a very very fast pace, but that’s how every boot camp is. Overall I would recommend it if you want to pick up coding quickly but at the end of the day it is your duty to put in the work in order to be successful in the boot camp and land your first role.

App Academy gave me the skills I needed to take my first step as a Software Engineer. The staff/instructors are awesome, and they hire new grads from App Academy as TAs so that they are always aware of the students' wants and needs.

If you are looking to start a career in tech, App Academy is a great option. It is tough though, if you choose to go through the 24-week online program expect to be putting in 50 hours a week on the low end, and 60-70 on the high end.

Set your expectations accordingly. Finding your first job in tech is hard and will take a ton of work. After graduation expect to continue to put in 40 hours a week grinding to find that first position. Lots of applications, networking conversations, and continuous study to improve your skills. It took me about 4 months to find my job and that's considered pretty quick because the average is about 6 months.

Overall a fantastic experience with a great curriculum and instructors. If you're serious about getting a job as an SWE this is a great option, just set your expectation accordingly and be prepared for a lot of work.

I loved my time at App Academy. I really value getting hands on experience and that's exactly what I got for 6 months straight. Besides just coding you learn how to work with others, how to ask questions, and how to learn things really fast. You will get to build your own projects and you will learn how to learn new technologies. By the end of the curriculum, you will have enough skills to build whatever you like. It was certainly challenging (at some points really challenging!) but if you know this is what you want to do then it quickly becomes a lot of fun as well.
