I have never had any problems with the hospital. My Dad just spent four days there, for an emergent illness and subsequent surgery, and the entire staff, from the ER to the 4th Floor Nurses to the OR Staff were OUTSTANDING! A few of them went above and beyond and I can’t say enough kind words about them. I absolutely will not hesitate to take my Father, or myself, there for care. I highly recommend The Atrium Medical Center!!

I HAD ABUSIVE NURSES IN THE ER - So, to start this, I've had a decent amount of bad visits here... but nothing in comparison to this last one. I have FND (which the last time I was here I was undiagnosed, they admitted me for 2 weeks and by the end of it tried to say that I was wither faking my symptoms or that it was happening due to medication I was on.) I had a really bad episode where I could not move nor talk but I could blink. My BF called for an ambulance and everything was communicated with the EMTs. They took me to the hospital and explained how I could not talk. The nurse (or maybe she was a tech, not for sure) explained to another nurse how I "won't" talk - acting as if I was not talking BY CHOICE. This next nurse said "well if you're not going to talk then we'll call your BF and have him come get you." (He was on his way already anyways, so he would be there.) because I could not move my jaw, instead of them putting pressure on my chin to open my mouth, they decided that rectal was the way to go. Which they wanted me to move myself... AND I COULD NOT. So, then I started to seize (part of FND) and the first nurse (maybe tech) PUNCHED MY CHEST MULTIPLE TIMES. She'd gotten me on my side where the second nurse took my rectal temp, ENTERING TWO TIMES. They also cut the underwear I was wearing in order to do this. And while I was seizing, the second nurse (not the one who had punched me) had told me "you can stop now" - as if I had control over what my body was doing. 24 hours or so later, my chest hurts so bad that I can barely make it to the bathroom. I have to walk with a walker since my legs barely work... but when I put pressure on my arms and try to hold myself up, it hurts so bad that I can't really do it at all. I've been miserable and moving had been so hard to do since I rely almost completely on upper body strength. This place is a joke and hires terrible staff. Sometimes you get lucky and you get someone who actually cares.... maybe 10% of the time.

I’ve had multiple bad visits here. Typically with rude and uncaring staff. However, todays visit took the cake on how awful it is here. I had a couple nice girls, but that’s about it. There was one girl who poked at my left arm like I was a voodoo doll trying to get an IV in. It’s bruised up. I did finally get an IV and some other things. When everything was done, I had one doctor saying I was good for discharge soon. And another doctor wanting to admit me for low blood pressure because he wouldn’t read my history or listen to me saying that is my normal. I had one nurse who thought it was okay to be rude to my boyfriend when he was just trying to help me explain something. No one was communicating and letting me leave when I was okay enough to leave. A lot of the service was awful. No one really came to check on me even with my machine alarms going off. I had to ask to leave against their will because I was there from 10:30am-5:30pm and was doing significantly better. This place clearly does not know how to care for autistic people, they instead will send you into a full blown crying meltdown. Thanks. I’ll avoid returning at all costs.

I just had my hysterectomy surgery here 6 days ago! That part was great! However I've been having ongoing issues since surgery and went to the Dr today who was concerned and told me to go back so I could get a CT scan dome and blood work. Once I arrived at the ER the lady checking me in didn't even look up at me, I was doubled over in pain and she didn't seem to care my friend that took me got me a wheelchair. Next thing you know I get triaged and they get my vitals and then after sitting there for another 30-45 minutes they call me back and put me in a different triage room. Once in there it was a small room with only 1 chair my friend asked for a chair to sit in and gets ignored. A few minutes later they move us to a different triage room and say well we can't have you taking up all the space because people want a extra chair so sit in here and wait. I'm starting to get very upset at this point and in a lot of pain due to sitting up straight with little cushion under me. They then finally get us into a regular room and the triage nurse doesn't adjust the bed and I'm supposed to be consistently sitting up she just says here's the call light if you need the nurse. The registration lady goes you look uncomfortable would you like to sit up more and she adjusted the bed for me. The ER nurse comes in a few minutes after that and she was actually wonderful her name was Maddy super sweet. She gets the IV started and gives me some pain medication and then I'm off to CT. When I went to get the CT done the lady asked me if there was any chance of pregnancy...mind you I'm here for hysterectomy complications!! The dr did not listen to anything I said and when they ran my urine to check for a UTI it came back bad she stated that was from having surgery and from not doing a straight cath so it was probably contaminated and REFUSED to give me an antibiotic. I left in tears as someone who rarely goes to the hospital for anything I felt unheard and completely disrespected. I pray I don't have anymore complications as I don't want to ever return to this hospital!! Please hire physicians with some compassion!!!!!

I went in for a mental health crisis and they misdiagnosed me with anxiety. There were no real explanations of anything. I’m noticing in my summary/notes reports it’s saying that the doctors were fully involved, which is simply not true (specifically the attending, who only said two sentences to me and met with me for less than 5 minutes out of my two hours. So how exactly was he “fully involved”?). The doctors said no more than a couple of sentences to me in the two hours I was there. It was the social worker who I spoke with mostly, though even that was only around 10 minutes. I spent most of the time sitting alone in the room silently in crisis and extreme mental and physical pain.

Also in the notes my words have been completely twisted. Like they literally didn’t even listen to me at all, which is just so obvious. They added things and I’m just so incredibly disappointed in this hospital.

I was told I would see the doctor again before I was discharged which DID NOT happen. Overall I was just terrified the entire time because I had been told that if I opened up they would immediately admit me no questions asked. I did not feel like I was taken seriously, which resulted in me needing an emergency therapy appointment. I’m just really disappointed in how our healthcare system treats people struggling with mental health.

I. Broke my wrist and was transported to atrium hospital er in middletown. They put it in a temporary cast, they set it. After a week I had to see an orthopedic Dr. He took exrays, and said my wrist was lined up perfect. He said the ER room had done an excellent job.

Horrible as usual. Had to go to urgent care a day later to find out I had strep throat. Dr's don't care. Staff doesn't care. Room was dirty. Never going back!
