Beware. I have been a member for nearly 40 years & maintained a home equity line of credit for 30 years. Just learned that Baxter is charging $500 to open a loan, even if your don't use it. I wasted 2 + hours completing the initial application & talking with the Mortgage Rep before learning & I canceled my request... 🙁

I am so glad we have BCU. I have 3 car loans and 1 personal loan. All I can say is the transactions went smooth for my purchases and refinance. Jonathan went above and beyond to close my deals in 48 hrs or less. Fast pre approvals fast response. He was always polite and efficient. I just wish they had more branches

Subject: Extremely Disappointing Experience with BCU Auto Loan Application

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received from BCU while applying for an auto loan of $10,000. Our application was submitted on February 19, 2024, with all the required documentation as per your guidelines. However, the entire process turned into a frustrating and drawn-out ordeal.

After a week of submitting our application, Mr. Jonatan contacted us to inform us that an additional document was needed. We promptly provided the requested document and waited for a decision. Another week later, Mr. Jonatan called again, stating that yet another document was missing. We once more submitted the necessary paperwork the very next day.

This cycle repeated every week for a total of eight weeks. Each time, a new document was supposedly missing, which we then had to provide. The process of compiling and submitting documents dragged on for two months. Mr. Jonatan, who is supposedly an experienced loan specialist, appears to lack the efficiency needed for such tasks (I dread to think how long a home loan process would take—perhaps two years?).

After two long months, we finally received a response, only to be denied the loan. The entire experience was far from professional, and the staff at BCU seemed completely unprepared and unqualified for their roles. It is truly concerning that it took two months to process an application for a $10,000 loan. One can only imagine the nightmare involved in applying for larger amounts.

This experience has been nothing short of a joke, and when I share it with friends, they can hardly believe that such inefficiency still exists in this day and age. I strongly advise others to avoid BCU at all costs.

Have banked with BCU for 7 years now. Their general account offerings are pretty good, but my latest experience with their member ops teams has me seriously considering completely closing the account and transferring elsewhere.

My request was for a cashier's check to be sent via overnight (very standard, simple process). They then proceeded to:

1. Send the wrong check
2. Re-sent the check to the wrong address
3. Re-re-sent the check via standard shipping instead of overnight

Each time required me to call and attempt to correct the error (4 times in total). The end result was that I did not receive the needed check in time and will end up suffering a payment penalty from the intended payment recipient. If anyone from the BCU team is reading this, please tighten up the processes for your member ops team. One mistake I can understand, 3 mistakes on a request like this unacceptable.

Horrible, good luck getting an answer after 4:15 even though they close at 5pm they answer and hang up on you. This is my 5th attempt I was on hold for 25 minutes only get answers and hung up on.

No wonder you guys have 3 star reviews big banks are way better.

These people are wild, I gave them a money order that bounced. (It's a long story.) So they ended up restricting my account due to fraudulent activity, okay I get it it's totally my fault. HOWEVER, literally the next week I deposited a refund check from the money order including a hundred dollar bill to cover the overdraft fees from the bank and the refund fee from the money order.

These people still have my account restricted and they told me to wait seven business days for the check to clear. Okay, done. My account is still restricted. I had to call them again, the rep placed a freaking request that will take up to 24-48. How about you just let me access my account now? It was a mistake, I fixed it and paid you back.

I'm only using this bank for my auto loan, this bank gave me so much trouble for no reason even before this.

Called in to check the interest rate of balance transfer for my credit card and was told it was 0%. Got my bill and that is not what it shows up. Called member services to inquire about and and they were suppose to let me know what the outcome was after reviewing it. A month later and still did not hear from them so called back and the nice lady checked on it for me. Outcome was that they were not going to honor what the original rep told me. 20 years of doing business with BCU I expected better from them. If I could give zero stars I would. I will just give my business to someone else.

Tried to do the responsible thing and make sure my car is being paid on time just to get screwed over by them. They withdrew 2 accounts for the car payment instead of 1 as I had called and spoken to someone to make sure they were not going to withdraw my old bank causing me to go negative. Called spoke to someone else and nothing was resolved and it was my fault. After almost 2 weeks of calling and emailing I got an answer that they would return the car payment but they still had to check into paying for the fees that they caused for me to get charged. Was told that she had to review it because they did not charge those fees themselves. During this whole ordeal I was told that my automatic payment for the old account had been canceled just to find out after calling to verify I received accurate information well guess what? Its still active! Im trying to make sure my car payment is not late and they can bot do their job right! Do not get a car loan with them!!! I even asked if I was able to pay more into the car and I was told that I wasn’t? Why not Oh so you can get more interest money out of me? Honestly people look into different options before getting in anything with BCU!
