Customer service is absolute garbage. We moved to a different state so we cancelled and PHYSICALLY turned in the modem to the store and four months later we get a call from a collections agent saying we have an unsettled bill of NOT turning in the box. We are no longer in the state so we can’t go in and getting on the phone is near IMPOSSIBLE. Called and got hung up on three times and then left on hold for TWO HOURS. Ended up paying the bill because it was easier than getting through to optimum. I would not get their service.

I have been on hold for the last 54 minutes as I type this review. I turned in my equipment this morning but was told that I have to call to disconnect service. I spoke with an agent then was placed on hold. After 60 minutes on hold, a different rep picks up and proceeds with a sales pitch. I explained that I have already turned in the equipment and will be relocating to an assisted living facility and no longer require these services. It was never ending!

DO NOT GO WITH OPTIMUM. They do nothing but rip their customers off. Then when you call them, you get completely disrespected. Tranferred 5 times to people that know absolutely nothing. If your service gets shut off and you pay in full. You get told you have to pay the first month, installations fees and have to get new equipment. Ends up being over $200.00. The first time we called was told about the first month but not told about the installation. They charge entirely too much for the crappy service they have. Try to force you to get their phone service that is not good. When it was Sudden Link it was a lot better and didn't have to deal with a bunch of BS. It is almost worth moving back to Shreveport to get Comcast.

I have been using the service for many years and find what they offer to be better than the competition in my area. Yes, they are not nearly as good as they were with customer service but I have good cable tv and excellent internet for around $100. My internet is unlimited at over 500mg. I am happy at the moment.

Update: called and asked why I never got a gift card and they said I changed my service. They were saying I was getting 200 mbs when I was paying for 1gb and would not be eligible for a gift card “since I changed my service”. Proceeded to cancel where all the retention specialists said they could give me the price I signed up for of $50/mo. They also don’t prorate your service so they charge you for the whole month if you cancel after the first day of billing cycle. Get more money while giving less essentially. Stay away if you have options

Sleezy, lock you in for $50/mo with a nonexistent $200 gift card and raise your monthly payment every month until a year later you’re at $120/mo. Stay away if you have choices.

Internet went out today. Called Optimums Indian Call Center.

They said they can see my outage, but theres none reported in my area. I asked when and how can my outage be restored.

They said my modem was outdated. And the modem needs to be changed out.

(I purchased a new Motorola modem at Best Buy this year)

How can this new modem already be outdated?

Customers comaint dat da old boxes pickup on the outages and da new boxes dont pickup on the outages.

That doesn't even make sense...

We can send you a new box box dat dont pickup on outages and a technician can install it for a one time fee of $99.99.

No way dude, reverse whatever bug you sent to make it where my modem wont read your internet signal so it will work again.

Although Optimum may have some nice cellphones to purchase. Their network isn't worth it. I had their service for 6 years. I had the unlimited plan, and every month, I had to top off my account more than 4 times. Terrible coverage. Slow service, customer support, needs development.

After 16+ years of loyal service, Optimum has run me off, all because I wouldn’t purchase a cell phone plan. My bill increased quite a bit, and I was told the only way they could get it down is to purchase mobile. I don’t need mobile. I already have a cell phone. So, I was forced to cancel services to get my bill back to a manageable amount. It’s a shame that customer loyalty means nothing anymore. All of the discounted pricing goes to new customers to lure them in, while current customers pay more. That’s not right.
